Divine Mercy Secondary School was privileged to host the Bishop Rt. Rev. Robert K. Muhiirwa Akiiki on 4th October 2026 for a special celebration during which 42 students received the Sacrament of Confirmation. The occasion was marked by prayer, spiritual reflection, and guidance to the students and the entire school community.

During his homily, the Bishop encouraged the congregation to actively participate in Catholic apostolic movements, particularly groups such as the Legion of Mary, as a way of strengthening their faith and serving the community. He also encouraged students to participate in fruitful school clubs and activities, highlighting initiatives such as Laudato Si, which promotes care for the environment and responsible stewardship of creation.

The Bishop cautioned the youth against laziness and dependency, encouraging them to develop a strong work ethic and a positive attitude towards life. He further shared lessons from the lives of the saints, emphasizing faith, discipline, commitment, service, and perseverance as important qualities for young people to emulate.

He also encouraged students to consider acquiring practical and vocational skills, including plumbing, bricklaying, hairdressing, and other technical skills. He emphasized that such skills can empower young people to become job creators rather than merely job seekers.

The school community extends sincere appreciation to Director Fr. Christopher Mukidi, the school administrators, Board of Governors, teaching and non-teaching staff, and parents for their support in making the occasion successful. Special congratulations go to the 42 students who received the Sacrament of Confirmation. May they continue to grow in faith and become responsible, hardworking, and productive members of society.
